Other Worldwide Destinations

Not only do we deliver year-round in Venezuela, but also to a growing number of destinations in 244 countries around the world, including Vietnam and Vanuatu.

The highest waterfall in the world, a coast almost 3000 km long bathed by the Caribbean Sea, over 1300 species of birds, lush vegetation, a young and dynamic population, your stay in Venezuela may be loaded. So make sure you prepare your trip to make the most of it. Update your vaccinations (especially hepatitis A, typhoid and yellow fever) and according to the regions visited, plan anti-malarial treatment.

To the north of South America, bordered to the north by the Caribbean Sea and to the east by the Atlantic Ocean, to the southeast by the Republic of Guyana (not to be confused with Guyana...), to the south by Brazil and to the west by Colombia, Venezuela is an immense territory of 910 000 km² of which more than half is covered with forest. The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, which straddles the Tropic of Cancer, also has 72 islands. Its 25 million inhabitants are concentrated mainly on the coast and many places remain uninhabited. Its capital, Caracas, has about five million city dwellers. The Andes, the largest mountain range in the world, culminate at 5007 metres high with the "pico Bolívar".

Beaches, mountains, plateaus, islands, coastline, so many geological features that make this place a dream destination. From the plateaus ("llanos") to the Andes via the Orinoco delta or the Amazonian forest, you will be offered a wide choice of activities. Boat trip between the islands, relaxing on the sunny beaches with a glass of rum in hand, "koh Lanta" style trekking, 4X4 trip in the desert, canoe tour, your trip to Venezuela will fulfill your desire for adventure! Sea side, land side, or both, you set the tone!

The country enjoys a tropical climate. Two seasons follow one another, winter (or the rainy season), and summer (or dry season) from December to April. Wildlife lovers, find out about migration periods, nesting periods, etc. Attention, for the mountaineers, think of your small wool all the same because the highlands as well as the mountainous regions are cooler. Although festive, the carnival, Easter and Christmas periods are to be avoided if you want to escape the crowd of tourists. So choose the date of your departure according to the activities you plan to do.

In the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, anything is possible. The great variety of landscapes, history, crafts, everything is exciting. For hispanophiles, know that bullfighting is always practiced. For fans of other sports, attention, football is not the most widespread. It is the "beisbol" which has the favour of the inhabitants! For your accommodation, several choices are possible besides the hotel and the campsites. There are indeed Posadas, the equivalent of bed and breakfast, and campamentos, country inns. From the most basic hammock to the luxurious hotel in Venezuela, which one will you choose?

The fauna and flora of the country are of an incredible richness and variety. Palm trees, mangroves, rosewood, mahogany, cactus and swampy meadows rub shoulders and shelter an incredible fauna. Indeed one finds there the jaguar, the monkey, the ibis, the crocodile or the large snakes such as the anaconda or the boa constrictor. Nature expresses itself fully and takes back its rights. The "Salto angel" waterfall, which is apparently more striking during the wet season, is proof of this.

See the colonial houses of Coro, explore the old town of Caracas, learn about scuba diving, chat with the locals (there are only 2% of them), go with the "mochila" (backpack) to discover the Amazon forest, whatever you do, you will keep an unforgettable memory of your trip to Venezuela.

Art and culture in Venezuela
Andean cap, maracas and hammock represent an important part of the craft. Music and dance preserve Amerindian traditions whose drums ("cameo") and trumpets ("batutos") sometimes rhythm the celebrations. African culture is also represented and recalls that almost 10% of the population is descended from slaves. The Joropo designates above all the music but also the dance which accompanies it, this style representative of the culture of the country is played using string instruments. Of course Merengue and salsa are well present and have been widely exported.

What to visit in Venezuela
The university city of Caracas, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, will delight lovers of contemporary architecture. This vast complex was designed by the Venezuelan architect Carlos Raúl Villanueva in the middle of the 20th century. With its 600 monuments, the city and port of Coro are also listed. In this city founded in the first quarter of the 16th century, colonial architecture will not fail to surprise by its mixture of Spanish and Dutch Mudéjar influence. Finally, still listed by UNESCO, it is in the Canaima National Park, in the south east of the country that you will find the famous Salto Angel Falls, 1000 meters high.

Gastronomic specialities in Venezuela
Many menus offer soups, or "chupe", including clam-based "chipi-chipi" or fish-based "salcocho". Arepas" are corn cakes topped with beef, salad, cheese, etc. Pabellón criollo' is made from minced meat, black beans, rice and fried plantains. At Christmas you will be served "hallacas", tied in banana leaves, these specialities made from corn flour and olives are made from steamed meat (chicken or pork).
