Garland is a Texas town entirely located in Dallas County, USA. A small part of the city is included in the districts of Collin and Rockwall. It had over 200,000 inhabitants at the last census, making it the 12th largest city in the state. In 2008, Garland was ranked in Money magazine's "Top 100 Places to Live". The city was also considered the 6th "Best City for Working Parents". The city has many points of interest. For example, the Granville Arts Center, a complex owned and operated by the city. The complex includes two elegant theatres with a capacity of. The Plaza Theatre, with a capacity of 350 seats, is also part of the ensemble. The Atrium offers community organizations and corporations the opportunity to host banquets, receptions, trade shows and other events. The Garland Landmark Museum is located in the old Santa Fe warehouse. Inside are historical artifacts and documents representing a period from 1850 to the present. Travis College Hill Historic District, a residential area in downtown Garland, was the first site in Garland's history to be added to the National Register of Historic Places, administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior through its National Park Service. Two months later, the downtown square and surrounding buildings became Garland's second site added to the prestigious list. Travis College Hill consists of 12 houses from 1913 to 1960. Nicholson. Six years later, the Nicholson Memorial Library opened its doors in his honour. The Nicholson Memorial Library System is also the primary resource centre, or headquarters, for the Northeast Texas Library System (NETLS). NETLS serves a 33-county region that includes 105 member libraries. NETLS headquarters and offices have been located in the LNMLS central library since 1983.
