A journey the chocolate
never feels.

Our chocolates carry no preservatives and very little sugar, which makes them sensitive to heat. So whenever the temperature at origin, in transit or at destination requires special care, your chocolates travel in insulated packaging with refrigerant packs that keep the inside at 15–20°C (59–68°F) until delivery — added automatically, free of charge.

Outer export carton

A rigid outer carton protects the presentation box through handling and transit.

02
Insulated container

An insulated shipper isolates the chocolates from the outside temperature for the whole journey.

03
Refrigerant packs

Refrigerant packs travel inside the container, sized to the season and the destination climate.

04
An interior of 15–20°C

Together they keep the inside at 15–20°C (59–68°F) until delivery.

05
A shipping date chosen for the weather

In the summer months — northern or southern hemisphere — we may ship your order early or hold it back rather than let it sit in a warm facility over a weekend. We always tell you when we change the date.

The Perfect
Delivery Promise.

International shipping is imperfect. Our response to imperfection is not. If anything goes wrong between our atelier and your recipient, tell us within 24 hours of delivery and we make it right, at our expense: a replacement ships next business day — at peak season, as fast as the atelier can — or a refund.

01

Your recipient is absent.

FedEx re-attempts delivery the next business day, then leaves a notice with the number of the local agency, where the parcel is held for a few days before being returned. Your recipient can reschedule by contacting FedEx, and our customer service helps if needed.

02

The box arrives damaged.

Send us a photo through the contact form within 24 hours of delivery. We express a fresh box the next business day — or refund in full, your choice.

03

A heatwave catches the parcel.

When local or transit temperatures put an order at risk, we ship it earlier or hold it back rather than let it sit in a warm facility over a weekend — and we tell you before we change the date.

04

The parcel is lost in transit.

If tracking stops moving, our customer service opens a trace with FedEx and follows through immediately. If the parcel cannot be recovered, we re-ship or refund in full.

Duties settled
in advance.

With zChocolat, your gift arrives as a gift should: no strings attached. We prepay all duties, taxes and tariffs on your behalf, so your recipients never have to pay anything — or even see an invoice — when their chocolates arrive at their door. The only exceptions are the countries listed below, whose regulations do not allow us to prepay import charges. If you are shipping to one of them, we tell you clearly before you check out, so there are never any surprises — neither for you nor for the people you are spoiling.

Countries where duties are added at checkout

They appear on their own “Customs duties” line before you pay, as a share of the gifts’ value, so your recipient pays nothing on delivery.

Canada 5%, Iceland 10%, Indonesia 10%, Israel 20%, Japan 5%, La Réunion 20%, Norway 5%, Panama 5%, Philippines 15%, Puerto Rico 10%, Qatar 10%, Saudi Arabia 20%, Taiwan 10%, United States 10%.

Countries where your recipient pays the duties

Their regulations do not allow us to prepay import charges: if local customs charge any, FedEx collects them from your recipient on delivery. We tell you clearly at checkout, before you order.

Albania, Algeria, Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahamas, Bangladesh, Barbados, Belize, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Colombia, Cook Islands, Djibouti, Eritrea, Faroe Islands, French Polynesia, Gambia, Georgia, Greenland, Grenada, Guam, Guatemala, Guernsey, Guinea, Guyana, Iraq, Ivory Coast, Jamaica, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Lesotho, Macau, Madagascar, Malaysia, Marshall Islands, Mauritania, Mauritius, Micronesia, Moldova, Montenegro, Mozambique, Namibia, Nepal, New Caledonia, Pakistan, Palau, Paraguay, Peru, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint-Barthélemy, Samoa, Seychelles, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Suriname, Tanzania, The Northern Mariana Islands, Togo, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Turks and Caicos Islands, Uganda, Uruguay, Uzbekistan, Vanuatu, Wallis and Futuna, Zimbabwe

Countries we do not deliver to

We’re sorry we cannot deliver there. Either FedEx Express does not serve these destinations, or customs clearance there is too unpredictable for us to promise that your chocolates arrive fresh and on time.

Afghanistan, American Samoa, Andorra, Belarus, Bermuda, Brazil, British Indian Ocean Territory, Burkina Faso, Cayman Islands, Central African Republic, Chad, Chile, Christmas Island, Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Comoros, Costa Rica, Crete, Cuba, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Equatorial Guinea, Falkland Islands, French Guiana, French Southern and Antarctic Lands, Guinea-Bissau, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kiribati, Kuwait, Mali, Mayotte, Mexico, Myanmar, Nauru, Nicaragua, Niue, Norfolk Island, North Korea, North Macedonia, Palestine, Pitcairn Islands, Russia, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, São Tomé and Príncipe, Serbia, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, Somalia, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, Sudan, Svalbard and Jan Mayen, Syria, Tajikistan, Thailand, Tokelau, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Tuvalu, Ukraine, Venezuela, Vietnam, Western Sahara, Yemen.

Flown by the best
in the business.

FedEx Express is our exclusive carrier, and every package is tracked from our atelier in Provence all the way to your recipient’s doorstep. You receive real-time email notifications at each key step: when your gift ships, when it clears customs (if applicable), when it reaches the local FedEx facility, when it is out for delivery, and when it is delivered — with, when a signature is taken, the name of the person who signed for it and the exact local time.

Logistics FAQ

Eight questions,
eight answers.

Still a question? Our customer service answers in English or in French.

01

Can you deliver to a hotel, hospital or office?

Yes — hotels, hospitals, offices, private clubs and co-working spaces are among our most frequent delivery points. Add the room or suite number, the name under which the recipient is registered, and an instruction for the reception desk. Choose a delivery date one business day before check-in so the box is waiting; hand-to-hand delivery to the guest cannot be guaranteed.

02

Will the chocolate melt if the parcel sits in the sun?

Whenever the weather requires it, your parcel travels in temperature-controlled packaging: an insulated container with refrigerant packs keeps the inside at 15–20°C (59–68°F) until delivery. In the summer months we may also bring your shipping date forward or push it back, so the parcel is not stored in a warm facility over a weekend — we let you know whenever we do.

03

Is there a price or invoice visible inside the box?

No. Every order is treated as a gift. No price, invoice or receipt is ever placed inside the parcel. For customs, international parcels carry a commercial invoice attached to the outside of the shipping carton, which FedEx is instructed to remove before delivery. Your recipient sees only the chocolate and your personal message card.

04

Will my recipient be charged duties or taxes on arrival?

No — except in the countries listed above, under “Duties settled in advance”, whose regulations do not allow us to prepay import charges. Everywhere else your gift is delivered DDP (delivered duty paid): the duties are included in the shipping fee or, for the 14 countries listed above, paid at checkout on their own line. If you are shipping to one of the exceptions, we tell you clearly before you check out. Check the terms for your destination ↑

05

Can I send gifts to several recipients in one order?

Yes. Add each gift to your basket, then at checkout choose “Send to multiple recipients” and assign a recipient to each gift. Each parcel gets its own message card, its own delivery date and its own tracking link; the recipients never see a price.

06

Can I order now and choose a later delivery date?

Yes. Choose your delivery date at checkout: the calendar shows every date we can still meet for your destination, weeks or months ahead, including the holidays. We ship from our atelier just in time for that date. Customs clearance and last-mile delivery are in the carrier’s hands: if authorities or the weather slow a parcel down, we follow up with FedEx and keep you informed.

07

Do you deliver to P.O. boxes?

FedEx Express cannot service P.O. boxes in most countries. A physical street address — residential, commercial, hotel, or hospital — is required. Our customer service will happily check an address before dispatch.

08

May I send gifts to dozens of recipients in one order?

Yes, absolutely. Download our multiple-recipient spreadsheet and email it to corporate@zchocolat.com: Nathalie Bach and Phoebe Thomas, our corporate sales team, will get back to you within a few hours. For more about business gifting, see our Business Gifts page.
