Winston-Salem is located in North Carolina, USA. It is located in the north of the state east of the capital Raleigh. It is also the administrative headquarters of Forsyth County. Being the fourth city of the state it forms with the city of Greensboro and the city of High Point an urban area called Triad of Piedmont. The city counts 227 834 inhabitants and with the Triad of Piedmont 1 535 926 inhabitants. WS was born in 1753 by a religious colony that sold it to Count Granville. It became a land of settlers and bore the name of Bethabara. Under the guidance of the Count the city took the name of Salem which means'peace' in Arabic in 1766. In 1849 the war of independence hero Joseph Winston founded the town Winston-Salem. In 1851 plans were put in place to link the two neighbouring towns. For the anecdote of the definitive union of the two cities, it should be known that it was by the decision to unite the postal service in 1889 that the cities were officially united in 1913 to become Winston-Salem. It was at this time that the Reynolds family played a fundamental role in building the city by building museums and schools.
