Saint Vincent and the Grenadines form a magnificent volcanic archipelago comprising 32 islands on the border between the Atlantic and the Caribbean Sea. It is located north of the island of Granada and south of Saint Lucia and led by the United Kingdom, Elizabeth II is therefore the sovereign. An ancient pirate haven, the island of Saint Vincent dominates the archipelago, where the capital is located and almost the only city, Kingstown.

After having known the buccaneers, the smugglers and the intensive cultivation of sugar cane, the archipelago became a peaceful dream destination for foreigners in search of pure change of scenery, but also for the shooting of the Hollywood series of Pirates of the Caribbean. However, the large island of Saint Vincent is less solicited by tourists than its neighbours even though it has many undeniable assets. The diversity of its landscapes is exceptional, for example, the turquoise blue sea, the steep reliefs, the mountains and steep rocks plunging into the sea, the lush tropical forest, the impressive volcano of the powder magazine, or its immensely rich fauna and flora. We're here in a tiny, well-preserved paradise. The island of Saint-Vincent is divided into three parts, that of the east, on the Atlantic coast, that of the centre and that of the west on the Caribbean Sea, it is distinguished from the other islands by the presence of black sand on its beaches. Kingstown is a pretty capital with colonial houses of all colors. Here, there are few tourists in the streets, it can thus keep its authenticity and its Creole charm. In the southeast of the city you will find a protected bay with pleasant beaches for swimming, it is there that the main hotels of the island have settled.
Hikers will be very happy to discover the paths crossing the tropical forests and leading to the summit of the Soufrière volcano (1219 m). Open your eyes wide, you are on the territory of the famous parrots and iguanas. You can also stroll along the west coast, take the winding roads with their steep relief, you will find extraordinary views. But the most beautiful assets of the archipelago are without any doubt, the Grenadines islands. This string of islands of different sizes and sometimes uninhabited is a favourite place for sailing cruises. Under the Caribbean sun, in crystal clear waters, let yourself be carried from island to island by the light breeze of the trade winds. The names Bequia, Petit Nevis, Moustique, Canouan, Mayreau and Cayes de Tobago mean nothing to you yet? Once your escapade is over, their beauty will remain forever etched in your memory. Of course, enjoy moments of rest and relaxation on their most beautiful white sandy beaches in the shade of coconut trees. And even if you don't own your own boat, many day charters will take you for an all-inclusive package to some of these heavenly places. The coral reef is one of the most beautiful in the world and the sea offers them an infinite variety of exotic fish, rays and sometimes giant turtles. In all the islands you will find a diving club and day boat excursions to discover the most beautiful spots of the region.
To make the most of the archipelago's exceptional setting, it is advisable to leave during the dry winter period, between December and May. The temperature during the year almost never drops below 26°C. The climate of the Grenadines is significantly drier than that of Saint Vincent. The archipelago is endowed with a unique natural wealth, happy will be those who will be able to go there at least once in their life!

There is no direct flight from France to Saint-Vincent. A new airport is planned for 2012. The boat is the only way to go from island to island, many companies are present in Saint-Vincent. English is the official language.

Art and culture in Saint Vincent And The Grenadines
Unlike other Caribbean islands, Creole culture is very present on Saint Vincent and dominates the ancient British culture. Music is part of the local culture; almost everywhere on the islands of the archipelago you will hear the rhythms leading to calypso, reggae or soca. Concerning the local craft industry, many workshops make products based on raw materials (wood, metal, coconut, banana leaves). You will find them in the form of jewels, paintings, bags, clothes...
