Guam is a volcanic island, surrounded by coral reefs. The northern half is a relatively flat coral limestone plateau, bordered by coastal cliffs, dug by galleries. The other half is folded with hills in the centre and mountains in the south, cut off by rivers and waterfalls. Among the four peaks of the island, Mount Santa Rosa offers a spectacular view of the dense forests of the north of the island. To the south, Mount Jumullong Manglo is the highest point on the island (410 meters). Measured from its base at the bottom of the Mariannes Trench, it is the highest mountain in the world. You can climb to the top to enjoy the panorama over the entire south coast and the hills stretching north of the island. The lush jungle hides a number of waterfalls. In the centre, a guide can take you to Sigua Falls or Tarzan Falls. In the south of the island, the Talofofo Falls are a charming place to swim. Agana, the capital, is filled with "little" sights: the ruins of the Casa Gobierno, the Statue of Liberty miniature, the historical museum of Guam and the cathedral of Dulce Nombre de Maria on the Spanish square. But the main attraction of the city is the Latte Park, gathering the false stone pillars with the appearance of mushrooms, true symbol of the island, on which the old Chamorros built their houses. The city also houses six historic parks, dedicated to events that affected the island during the Second World War.

Guam's coastline is a succession of beaches, cliffs and rocks. One of the major attractions of the island is the practice of water sports. The transparent waters, home to many fish, coral reefs and historic wrecks, will delight scuba divers. You can also surf, windsurf, canoe and kayak. Tumon Bay is the main tourist centre on the island. The numerous hotels, discotheques, restaurants and other shops intended for the Japanese distort the place somewhat. Nevertheless, you can go for a walk on Gun Beach, the beach with the starry sand. It is so named because tiny orange shells, covered with star dots, litter the ground. Located on the south-west coast, Inarajan is a small and quiet town, where the Chamorro culture is still present as evidenced by the thatched bamboo houses of the Chamorro cultural village. You can see demonstrations of Chamorro crafts. Not far from there, you can visit the cave of Gadeo which shelters petroglyphs dating from 1500 BC. As for the beaches, don't miss the turquoise lagoon of Cocos Island. Only the western part of Cocos is open to the public. From Merizo, you'll have to take a boat. Cetty Bay offers one of the most beautiful coastal landscapes on the island.

Due to the influx of tourists, it is advisable to avoid periods corresponding to Japanese holidays (late December, late April-early May, July to September). Tourism being essentially turned towards Japanese customers, a good number of Japanese customs are to be observed in the tourist zones. Feel free to take the Atlantis Guam, a submarine that allows you to see shipwrecks and coral reefs at a depth of 150 meters. You can also go diving at Apra Harbor to see the reef, littered with shipwrecks and planes, remnants of the American-Japanese battles of the Second World War.

Several hotels on the island have their own private churches. Guam also has seven world-class golf courses. It is therefore a dream destination for enthusiasts of this discipline. There are open courses to challenge all skill levels while enjoying the beauty of the Pacific Ocean landscape. Be sure to visit the Chamorro night market, which is open every Wednesday. You will have the opportunity to meet the inhabitants of the island. With its dream beaches, Guam is a tropical paradise that enjoys a favorable climate all year round. The island is also a diver's paradise. The reefs provide a rich and varied underwater fauna, composed of many species such as barracudas, tazards, blue marlin, octopuses, turtles and starfish.
