The American Virgin Islands are a Caribbean archipelago and have the status of unincorporated territory of the United States. Located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, they are composed of three main islands, namely Saint Thomas, Saint John and Saint Croix. Their capital is Charlotte Amalie, located on the island of Saint Thomas and famous for its small alleys of colorful houses lined with palm trees. The city has many monuments, such as Fort Christian (home to the Museum of the American Virgin Islands), Blackbeard Castle, Crown House, Nisky Moravian Church, a church built in 1795 by missionaries from Moravia, the Beracha Veshalom Vegmiluth Hasidim Synagogue or the House of the painter Pissarro. The city is also full of museums, such as the Weibel Museum (on the Jewish history of the island of Saint-Thomas) or the Museum of the Seven Arches. It will be necessary to take the cable car which leads on the heights of the city, in Paradise Point, to be able to admire a splendid panorama on the whole of the Caribbean. To the east is the island of Saint-John, known for its paradisiac landscapes and its immense tropical forest. The most courageous can discover this wild environment by hiking and taking the famous Reef Bay Hike trail. Lazy lovers can relax on the beautiful beaches of Trunk Bay.
