Maseru, the capital of Lesotho, has managed to preserve the colonial character of its city centre. Most of the buildings are made of sandstone from the region. Moving a little further into the city, visitors will not fail to admire the royal palace or the astonishing Papal Pavilion, a building commemorating the Pope's arrival. To become familiar with the major events that helped forge the identity of the country, the most curious can visit the history museum. Among the most popular places in the city is the Catholic cathedral Notre Dame des Victoires. The capital of Lesotho is also home to the Roma National University, both a high educational centre and the seat of the Roman Catholic mission.
