The Republic of Cameroon is full of wonders that will transport you in a warm and exotic environment. Let yourself be enchanted by the unique African charm.
Cameroon is located in the Gulf of Guinea, slightly above Ecuador. This Central and West African country borders Chad, Central African Republic, Nigeria, Gabon, Congo and Equatorial Guinea. Cameroon can also count on a maritime border giving it an opening on the Atlantic Ocean. This privileged position allows it to be a real cultural, economic but also ethnic crossroads. Indeed nearly 249 ethnic groups are counted as Pygmies, Bantu, Sudanese, Arab-Berber...

This mosaic of population, this diversity make Cameroon a rich country that cannot be assimilated in a short stay. Moreover, many cities are to be discovered such as Douala (the largest city in the country), Yaoundé (the capital), Garoua, Maroua, Ngaoundéré, Bafoussam, Bamenda, Bertoua, Kumba, Nkongsamba, Buéa (for hiking), Ebolowa, Kribi, Sangmélima, Limbé, Dschang, Foumban.

Cameroon is synonymous with wealth and diversity on many levels. Discover its breathtaking landscapes and visit the many parks and nature reserves throughout the territory. Let yourself be tempted by a safari in the savannah or go trekking to the assault of the Bamboutos, Atlantika, Manengouba Mountains... Then take a bush taxi to rest a few hours on the beautiful beaches with clear waters which are offered to you.
Because of its vastness, Cameroon does not enjoy a unique climate; thus the south of the country is rather humid tropical while in the north the climate is quite dry. If you go south, fly to Cameroon during the period from November to February. The rest of the year is quite rainy. In the north the rainy season extends from May to the end of September. So choose the period from October to April instead.

The preservation of the environment is very important for Cameroon, which is why the country has many national parks throughout the territory. Depending on your location, find the national park nearest you. The best known is certainly the park of Waza located in the north and which extends over 170 000 hectares. Here lions, cobs, antelope-horse, giraffes, warthogs, ostriches, cheetahs, elephants... Still in the north is the park of Bouba Ndjida, true land of the rhinoceros.
Nature reserves are also very important in Cameroon. There too you will find them all over the territory. The AJD reserve is impressive for its biodiversity, gorillas and chimpanzees. It is home to no less than 107 mammal species, five of which are threatened. The Dja Reserve and the Waza National Park are classified as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. Undoubtedly Cameroon will amaze you by the diversity of its landscapes, crossing the country you will be the privileged spectator of spectacular mountains, lush tropical forests, volcanic massifs and a hypnotic savannah. Wherever you go, you will witness extraordinary panoramas that only Africa can offer us. Going to Cameroon is always a rewarding experience. One meets there populations each having their codes, their cultures but having as common point the hospitality and the authenticity. A population in the image of the country: warm and benevolent awaits you to make you share its art of living in all simplicity.

Art and culture in Cameroon
Each ethnic group in Cameroon brings its own culture, lifestyle and traditions. So every part of the country has its own rites. For example, funeral ceremonies held in the west and north, give rise to magnificent warm and colourful commemorations, given in honour of the deceased. If you book a hotel in Cameroon in December try to go to La Fête de l'eau (Ngondo) which takes place every year on the banks of the Wouri River, among the Sawa (People of Water), in Doula. An appointment spread over a week during which carnivalesque parades, giant canoe races and sacred rites follow one another. In your suitcases do not forget to bring a souvenir such as ceramic or clay objects, traditional masks or bronze and copper statuettes.

What to visit in Cameroon
If you pass by the capital Yaoundé let yourself be tempted by the national museum located in the city center. This place is dedicated to what is called primitive art. You will find there many traditional objects, modern paintings, sculptures... Cameroon is a land where nature has not suffered too much from man, that is why several sites of remarkable beauty are to discover absolutely. Among them Mount Cameroon, 4,070 m high and located to the southwest. The latter is the highest peak in Cameroon and even in West Africa. In the north of the country are the lunar landscapes of the Kapsiki which shelter volcanic dykes. The most famous peak of volcanic lava that you will be able to see there is the needle of Mchirgué culminating at 1224 meters of altitude.

Gastronomic specialities in Cameroon
Because of the ethnic diversity, Cameroonian cuisine is very varied. In fact each region has its speciality. Therefore, it is not easy to sum up Cameroonian gastronomy in a few words. However, some people
