Kyrgyz descend from a nomadic people. They maintain a very special relationship with their environment and a strong attachment to their traditions. A trip to Kyrgyzstan, It's a wild trip. Kyrgyzstan, Kyrgyzstan or finally Kyrgyzstan is located in the heart of Central Asia. As the proverb says, who has no horse has no feet, because a stay in Kyrgyzstan, It's a horse trip! So put your foot in the stirrup, and climb for this destination where nature and culture combine in the plural. In the middle of Central Asia, Kyrgyzstan lies between China (East and Southeast), Tajikistan (Southwest), Uzbekistan (West), and Kazakhstan (North). The country is divided in two by high mountains. To the south-east, at the border, culminates at the top of the Tien Shan massif, the Pic Pobedy, at more than 7 400m of altitude! The capital, Bishkek, to the north, is some 800m above sea level... It must be said that 40% of the territory is above 3000 metres! But Kyrgyzstan is also the red canyon and the huge lake, real inland sea, of Issyk koul. Have you always wanted to test the nights in yurts? Welcome to Kyrgyzstan! You dream of hiking in a wild and preserved nature? Try hiking to Köl Kot lake or around Karakol. In love with the horse, you are here in THE country where horses are still free, they replace our 2 wheels! And they are much more convenient than our cars in these mountainous regions! Desirous of an authentic journey, of a true relationship with warm, welcoming populations, and whose kindness will upset you? You've chosen the right destination!

From the eternal snows at the top of the hills where the climate is mountainous to the desert expanses to the continental climate... Between 40° on the plain of Bishkek in summer, at least 25° when the winter wind blows from Siberia, the thermal amplitude is impressive. The best times to visit the country are spring (April to June) and autumn (September-October). Advice for fauna and flora enthusiasts: learn about hibernation, migration and flowering periods. For the others, March 21 is celebrated Navrouz (new days) with its share of folk festivals. With more than 80 different ethnic groups, your perfect English may be useful at the airport, but not so much elsewhere, the official languages being Kyrgyz and Russian (Uzbek is also spoken there). Why Russian? Because in the 1860s they incorporated the region into their empire. In 1991, the country regained its independence under the name of the Kyrgyz Republic. Of this Russian domination, it remains, besides the language, the Orthodox religion, the 2nd great religion after the Muslim religion (about ¾ of the population). Kyrgyzstan is a variety of people and landscapes! The country will especially please the baroudeurs who like to walk, climb, and crapahuter in the mountains. But it's not incompatible with a moment of idleness. Lake Issyk Koul, with its 170 km long, up to 70km wide and 700 m deep, will satisfy your desires for relaxation and swimming. Although at 1600m high, the water is around 20 degrees, enough to satisfy everyone! It's the biggest alpine lake after Lake Titicaca! The tourist infrastructures are still little developed, but you can be lodged with the inhabitant, of what to create true bonds... Kyrgyzstan is the beauty of landscapes, from semi-desert plateaus to green valleys, from vertiginous passes to impressive canyons. But it is also the beauty of a people, its kindness, sincerity and generosity. For a colourful adventure, discover this country which has so much to share, bon voyage! Depending on your activities, always have a good raincoat, warm clothes, good shoes, sunscreen, flashlight and insect repellent. Do not photograph anyone until you have asked permission. Respect customs and habits, such as taking off your shoes before entering a mosque.

Art and culture in Kyrgyzstan
Take shelter in a yurt, sit on a shyrdak (felt mat) or on an Ala-kiyiz (wool mat) and let the Akhyns (minstrels) tell you the story of Manas (legendary hero). Look around you, in this typical habitat, the bright colors of fabrics traditionally made by the mother, covering the walls and floors. These pieces of furniture, deposited in large chests, will be the dowry of the bride-to-be! And then, imagine these men conquering the horse, make yourself explain the tournaments and equestrian games, then you will understand the symbolic place that this animal holds in the Kyrgyz culture.
