Oakland is a very large American city in California only 13 km from San Francisco with one of the largest freight ports. She is known worldwide through her Berkeley University. University that offers a breathtaking view of the famous Golden Gate Bridge and that can easily be visited since access is free, you will notice that some places were used to shoot scenes in American series or movies. Take a tour of its imposing library architecture with its columns. You can do some shopping in the campus shops. And of course Oakland offers a magnificent view of San Francisco Bay with the Bay Bridge and Alcatraz, the famous former federal prison. The fog often inviting itself over the water, it is better to observe the landscapes, in the morning or early afternoon. A walk to Jack London Square in homage to the famous author of the same name will enchant you especially in the evening when musical notes escape from jazz clubs and restaurants. Don't forget that Oakland is very famous musically speaking because several groups of singers come from the city such as the Pointer Sisters or the Tower of Power, to name only a few. Some museums deserve the interest of tourists like the USS Potomac which was the former yacht of President Roosevelt. After being sunk and refloated, visits are made there as well as walks in the bay of San Francisco. The Oakland Museum is more interesting to visit during travelling exhibitions. And to walk in a romantic setting Lake Merritt is the ideal place where people will run, have fun with children. Its originality? be a salt lake in an urban site! By going to the City Center district in the city center, you can contemplate the architecture of modern skyscrapers of the 20th century, such as the Tribune Tower, the City Hall which is a superb building classified as a historical monument or the Rotunda Building of 1912. And on the other hand, in the historic district, it is the Victorian houses (late 19th century) that attract the eye, just like the old warehouses that have been rehabilitated into restaurants and art galleries. Oakland is not lacking in cultural and musical pleasures because of its reputation as a multicultural city. Between the Paramount Theatre which hosts cinemas, concerts, a theatre, an opera and night clubs or bars offering jazz, pop, rock music, etc.... You will certainly find an animation to your taste,
