The largest city in the Central Valley is a surprisingly lively destination for your escapades. Seven stadiums and several sports centres will delight sports fans, while the Woodward Shakespeare Festival, held every year in the green Woodward Park, testifies to Fresno's interest in culture. But make no mistake: agriculture is queen in Fresno, the main town in the San Joaquin valley. We're not in the most prolific area of California for nothing! You will notice this at the beginning of spring, by bike or car following the 100 km flower trail, the Blossom Trail, lined with fruit trees in full bloom. In summer, the road becomes the county's fruit trail, the Fresno County Fruit Trail, and the stalls are filled with mature fresh fruit. Fresno is a succession of typical districts which reflect well its origins and its multi-bodiedness, 80 different nationalities live today in Fresno. Continue towards District Tower, popular district considered as the district of arts and culture. The theatre was built in 1939 and is located in the heart of the district, where you can also admire residences of all architectural styles and periods. The District Tower is also the venue for all year round events organised by the city, such as Halloween or Mardi Gras, and you can continue your walk to the Fresno Zoo, whose history dates back to 1907. Fresno is also large spaces. You can try your hand at golf, fishing or water sports or visit one of California's three major national parks or the region's water parks. The Fresno Art Museum offers exhibitions of contemporary art as well as local artists. Being the only museum of modern art between San Francisco and Los Angeles, the Fresno Art Museum presents exhibitions, films, concerts, lectures, visits, and symposia to enlighten, challenge, educate and entertain its visitors throughout the year and greatly renews its exhibitions.
