Ghana is a land of multiple identities, where the pan-African movement was born. Ancient English possession, it still bears the traces of its colonial past. Ghana is not very touristy, yet it is a beautiful destination to discover. Historical sites, magnificent landscapes, animal sightings, beautiful sandy beaches or even enriching encounters, here are so many things to do during a stay in Ghana. First of all, you will not be able to pass by visiting it from the city of Accra. These various districts are worth the detour as the district of Ussher Town, Osu (the night, for its restaurants and discotheques). Also worth discovering is the Castle, which is none other than the presidential residence, located in the Osu district. Another market to survey is Kejetia in Kumasi. To the north west of Kumasi, one can also observe the traditional Ashantis architecture. Houses are built of wood, thatch or earth. They are classified as Unesco world heritage sites. You can buy Ashantis handicrafts (goldsmithery and fabric of Kente) on the market of Kumasi. One of the most visited regions, remains that of the Volta and its artificial lake, the largest artificial lake in the world. It occupies 3.5% of the territory. Concerning monuments and buildings, if you only need to see one mosque, we recommend the one in Bole, in the north-west of the country. Vestige of the Portuguese colonial period, the Portuguese forts of Ghana built between 1482 and 1786. They are all located on the coast of the country between Keta and Beyin. They remain evidence of the slave trade in the country. Here are a few to visit, Elmina or Cape Coast. Lazy and beach lovers will meet in Bosua and Dixcove. You can also surf there. Ghana is a safe destination but you still need to be vigilant, especially in Accra, the country's major city. Be careful with your luggage and bags.
