Toowoomba ("the city of gardens") is a city in southeastern Queensland, Australia. The origin of his name is not known with certainty. It could come from an Aboriginal name meaning "swamp". The city is located 132 km west of Brisbane, the capital of Queensland and 2 hours drive from the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast beaches. Toowoomba is, after Canberra, the largest non-coastal city in Australia. Toowoomba is a medium-sized city that is 3 hours from the coast. The town, 700 metres above sea level, offers a breathtaking view of the Locker Valley. From Brisbane, it will take you 90 minutes by car. It's worth the trip as you'll cross huge pastures and enjoy the scenery of Australia's great outdoors. The climate is very pleasant in summer: the air is cool and dry, but in winter the temperatures approach zero. Toowomba is known for its parks and its "Flower Festival" in September. This annual event brings together thousands of visitors who rush this quiet little town for a good week. Toowoomba is located at the top of a hill in the Australian Cordillera, 700 m above sea level. Some streets are located on the east side but the majority is on the west side.
